Use MomentCut in ChatGPT and Claude

What it is for

Everything you do in the studio can be said to the assistant in one sentence, and it chains the steps for you. Three examples:

• “Here is the recording of yesterday’s podcast. Find the five best 60-second moments and export the best one in vertical.”
• “In my latest MomentCut project, shorten clip 2 so it ends right after the sentence about the fundraising, and switch the subtitles to the karaoke style.”
• “How many analysis minutes do I have left this month, and which of my projects have clips ready to export?”

How to connect MomentCut

The connector address is the same everywhere. The first time, the assistant sends you to a MomentCut page to sign in to your account and authorise the app; you then come back to the conversation.

In Claude

1. Open Claude’s settings, then the connectors section.
2. Choose to add a custom connector and paste the connector address.
3. Start the connection: the MomentCut authorisation page opens, you sign in and authorise Claude.

In ChatGPT

1. Turn on developer mode in ChatGPT’s settings (apps or connectors section, depending on the version).
2. Create an app or connector with the connector address, choosing OAuth authentication.
3. Start the connection: the MomentCut authorisation page opens, you sign in and authorise ChatGPT.

ChatGPT’s and Claude’s menus change over time, and some options depend on the plan you have with them: the exact names of the sections may differ from what is described here. What does not change is the connector address and the MomentCut authorisation page. MomentCut is not listed in their app directories yet: it is added by hand, with its address.

What the assistant can do

The connector exposes twelve actions. The assistant decides which ones to chain: you never have to name them.

• Your account — See your plan, your remaining analysis minutes and your available exports.
• Your projects — List your five most recent projects and where they stand: importing, analysing, clips ready.
• Upload link — Give you the link to upload a video from your device into the studio, when it can be neither attached nor linked.
• Video import — Create a project from a video file attached to the conversation, or from a direct link to an .mp4, .webm or .mov file. YouTube or Vimeo links are not accepted.
• Import status — Follow the server as it downloads the video.
• Analysis — Transcribe the video and pick its best clips, with the spoken language, the number of clips (3, 5 or 10), the target length (30, 60 or 90 seconds) and the topics to favour.
• Video AI — Have the video AI watch and listen to the whole video to pick, or re-pick, the moments — optionally from a description, such as “the moment she shows the prototype”.
• Project and clips — Show a project: progress, numbered clips with their times, titles, scores, descriptions and hashtags, subtitle style, exported files and their links.
• Clip edit — Change a clip: start and end times (subtitles are recomputed), title, description or hashtags.
• Clip style — Change how the project’s clips are rendered: subtitle style (classic, outline, pop, minimal, karaoke), font, aspect ratio (9:16, 4:5, 1:1, 16:9), subtitle colour, framing, title banner and silence removal.
• Export — Render a clip as an MP4 file on the MomentCut server, with the project’s style.
• Download — Follow the export and get the download link, valid for 24 hours.

Limits

• Same quotas and same limits as the studio: the analysis minutes used are yours, and the free plan keeps its rules (3 exports, with watermark; one video-AI pass per project). An account holds at most 5 projects.
• One server task at a time per account — import, analysis or export: the assistant waits for it to finish before starting another.
• From the assistant, an export is centre-cropped by default, or cropped at the horizontal position chosen in the project style, or keeps the whole frame. Only automatic face tracking stays in the browser: for a crop that follows the face, export from the studio.
• The exported file stays downloadable for 7 days; the link shared in the conversation is valid for 24 hours. A source video left unchanged for 30 days is removed, as in the studio.

Security

• The connection uses OAuth 2.1 with PKCE, the standard the MCP protocol specifies. The assistant never sees your password — MomentCut has none anyway: you sign in with a code or a link received by e-mail.
• Authorisation is given on a MomentCut page that states exactly what the app will be able to do. It cannot delete your account, see your payments or change your plan.
• Only the return addresses of ChatGPT (chatgpt.com, chat.openai.com) and Claude (claude.ai, claude.com) are accepted, plus your own computer for a local app: a booby-trapped link cannot hijack the authorisation.
• The access token expires after one hour and renews itself quietly; after 60 days without use, the connection switches itself off.
• To disconnect MomentCut, remove the connector from ChatGPT or Claude. There is no list of connected apps in My account yet; deleting your account revokes every connection.

Same pricing

The connector costs nothing extra and grants nothing extra: it uses your MomentCut plan, free or paid, with its minutes and its limits. For more minutes or exports without watermark, the plans are on the pricing page.
