Long video in, short clips out
OpusClip vs MomentCut: a point-by-point comparison
Worth knowing before you compare: MomentCut works from the video file (MP4, MOV or WebM, up to 60 minutes), uploaded from your device (up to 30 GB, 20 GB on the free trial) or through a direct link to that file (up to 2 GB). YouTube links are not accepted.
On paper, OpusClip and MomentCut do the same thing: a long video goes in, captioned vertical clips come out. MomentCut is our tool; OpusClip has been around since 2022 and has proven itself. Here is where they really differ, with figures checked on 12 October 2026, and when OpusClip remains the better choice for you.

What they have in common
Both find the passages that stand alone in a long video, reframe them vertically and burn in captions. Both let you adjust clips before export. On the core job you will not go far wrong with either: the difference is in import, volume, posting and how you pay.
Choose OpusClip if…
- you want free usage that comes back every month, not a one-time trial;
- you would rather paste your video’s link than upload the file;
- your videos run longer than an hour;
- you want clips longer than 2 minutes (up to 15 with ClipAnything);
- you want to schedule posts from the tool (Pro plan);
- you want a proven tool with hundreds of public reviews;
- you pay yearly: OpusClip Pro then costs less per minute.
Choose MomentCut if…
- you are in Europe and want to pay in euros, with tax shown at checkout;
- you want a cheaper first plan: €9.99 a month instead of $15;
- you want yearly billing from the first plan, with 2 months free;
- you work from your own files, MP4, MOV or WebM;
- you want to export square, landscape or 4:5, not only 9:16;
- you want to try it without giving a credit card.

On yearly billing OpusClip comes out ahead: its Pro plan at $14.50 a month for 300 credits costs less per minute than our Creator plan at €199.90 a year for 300 minutes a month. If you clip a lot and pay yearly, run the numbers with your own volumes.
